St. Louis Trip

We took a quick weekend trip to St. Louis to get away before school starts for Ethan. On Friday evening we went to a Cardinals game. Saturday we headed around town and went to the City Museum - which was quite interesting and swam at the hotel. We attempted the Arch, but the line was too long & it was just too hot! By Sunday we were all 3 ready to come home.

Daddy's 31st Birthday!

How cool is it to have your birthday on the 4th of July? Beyond cool. You get fireworks. This year for Dad's birthday I made little pudding cakes all by myself. I did not clean up the mess, but I made the mess.

I think they turned out good. We even had a few extra that I took to Mama & Papa Vote. Dad liked them.

Then we shot fireworks off out in the country where all we had to worry about was catching the cornfields on fire.

HAPPY BIRTDAY DAD!

Our New House

It all started back in March. When Mom got better after the infection, Dad says she got the "itch" to start house hunting. This of course was before they were ready to put our house up for sale.

So they drug me to a lot of houses and after one failed attempt (a nice house with not enough storage) they found what they were looking for. Only problem was the location. Not exactly in the area they were looking, but close.
After a lot of talking they decided it would be a good place for us and for me to go to school. It's a small community of about 1,300 right outside of Evansville. The house has a huge yard and is on rock road out in the country. But there are several houses on our street - all families with young kids. So I will have plenty of people to get in trouble with.
It is about a 15 minute drive to work for Dad and about 30 minutes for Mom. It is your basic ranch with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms on the first floor. There is a full basement with a full bathroom that we will finish out. There is a window (for fire escape) and that can be made into a 4th bedroom. We'll also make another family room down there.
But it has the top 4 things Mom insisted on - 2 bathrooms, laundry room upstairs, dishwasher and attached garage! Plus a large dettached garage.
We decided to paint and re-do a lot of the flooring before we move in, so most of our weekends and weeknights have been spent working on the new house and praying our old house sells quickly!

Spring Break

My cousins Madyson & Jordan came to visit over spring break with Grandma Anita.
One of the cool things we did was visit the Children's Museum.
They loved it!

We made our own bar of soap and put a little dinosaur inside it.

Breakfast with Santa

This morning we had breakfast at church where I go to school with Santa. I took the list I made by cutting pictures out of catalogs with me. I figured Santa would rather see pictures of the Transformers and Star Wars Lego's I'm hoping to get.

Papa Kelly and Mama Terry went with us to eat.
And of course Mom and Dad too.

King of the Rings

Ethan was asked to be in Juli's wedding up in Warsaw this past weekend as a ring bearer. As you can tell from the pictures he took this job very seriously! He practiced being a statue all last week and when the time came, we were just thankful he didn't pick his nose (new bad habit!).

A Good Day

Today has been what I call a good day. First, we got to sleep later because of the time change. Then, we went to church. We came home and packed a picnic lunch and went to a local park to eat and walk in the woods.

Now I'm relaxing with Dad eating some popcorn.

Watching the Colts.

While they eat Dad's famous chili.
A great day!

Cool New Game

I got this basketball game for my birthday from a friend. Mom likes it because by a miracle it requires NO BATTERIES! Dad likes it because he can beat Mom. I like it because I can play by myself or against Mom and Dad.

This weekend we had a tournament in our house by taking turns playing each other. One person started as the "ref" and then would play the winner of the game and we just kept going in that rotation for a long time Friday night.

Add some pizza, Shark week and some popcorn and it was a good time!

4th of July Vacation

We spent the weekend before the 4th of July in Warsaw visiting family. As usual we did a lot of fun things while we were there. We stayed at Papa Ivory & Mama Judy's and got to swim and drive the big red tractor! Plus I helped Daddy & Papa with a project and messed around in the barn. We visited Great Grandma & Grandpa Carpenter and I helped feed the fish in their lake.

I got to celebrate my birthday a little early with Grandma Anita, Aunt Cindy & Uncle Doug, Aunt Natalie, my cousins and Great Grandpa & Grandma Blackburn. We also celebrated Madyson's birthday & Dad's at the lake. Lots of sand and water! That night we got to see the fireworks at the lake too!

Grandma Anita also took Madyson, Jordan and I to the Fort Wayne Zoo. They had a lot of really neat things there to do.

As usual I miss them and can't wait to see them all again soon!

To My Dad:

It's your 30th birthday today. You had just turned 25 when I was born. From that moment on you became my dad. No experience needed, just faith.

God must have known what a perfect father you'd be and how much love you had in your heart. Mom knew when she picked you, that you'd be a great man.

Happy Birthday Dad!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GOD MADE DADS
God took the strength of a mountain
The majesty of a tree
The warmth of a summer sun
The calm of a quiet sea
The generous soul of nature
The comforting arm of night
The wisdom of the ages
The power of the eagle's flight
The joy of a morning in spring
The faith of a mustard seed
The patience of eternity
The depth of a family need
Then God combined these qualities
When there was nothing more to add
He knew His masterpiece was complete
And so He called it ... Dad
The Children's Museum
Last weekend we went to The Children's Museum with Mama Terry, Papa Kelly & Maddie and Tyler. I had been there on a school field trip before, but this was the first time Mom and everyone else had been. My favorite part was the water room! I'm going to a special (1 week) camp there this summer for kids my age about creatures!
